At IPeople Healthcare, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of healthcare innovation and ensuring the highest quality patient care through consistent data accessibility and strategic partnerships. To kick off this year, we had the privilege of participating as a sponsor in the MUSE International Executive Institute, an event that always has a fantastic group of MEDITECH hospital executives, as well as some amazing weather.
The MUSE Executive Institute is a unique event where healthcare executives have an opportunity to collaborate professionally and connect personally. MUSE is leading the way, understanding that true community is what makes a difference to ensure healthcare leaders can remain focused and committed to the critically important cause of patient care. This event uniquely allows healthcare executives an opportunity to not only learn from key leaders but also take time on a personal level to prepare for a successful year.
Here’s a recap of our experience and the invaluable insights we gained:
A Gathering of Visionaries
The MUSE executive institute is well known as a premiere gathering place for healthcare executives. This year’s event, which took place in Newport Beach, CA, offered a perfect platform to engage in thought-provoking discussions and share innovative ideas. IPeople Healthcare was excited to be a part of this dialogue, which attracted top healthcare executives who are shaping the future of healthcare systems.
Collaboration and Innovation in Action
One of the highlights of the Executive Institute was the opportunity to collaborate with other healthcare executives. The theme of this year’s conference, Living in a Connected Ecosystem, was evident throughout every session, panel, and networking event.
Our team had the chance to showcase the industry-leading solution IPeople Healthcare offers which is critically influential in the areas of local data survivability, business continuity, and data resiliency. We were inspired by the conversations with healthcare executives and were thrilled to see how our passion for data accessibility aligns with the priority hospitals are placing on sustainable ways to ensure data accessibility.
The conference featured numerous breakout sessions where industry leaders shared strategies for navigating the complexities of healthcare interoperability, digital transformation, and the ability to lead through complex changes as technology develops.
Networking with Industry Leaders
One of the most valuable aspects of the MUSE Executive Institute was the exceptional networking opportunities it provided. We are biased with the cupcakes and the IPeople Health lemon drop drink at the welcome reception, but the discussions at every meal, break, or impromptu gathering were amazing. The connections and discussions allowed us to not only share best practices but also explore new collaboration opportunities that could accelerate the development of future healthcare solutions.
Key Takeaways and Insights
Our team walked away from the MUSE Executive Institute with a renewed vision and excitement for our purpose and direction. There were several key takeaways that we found especially insightful:
- Interoperability and beyond: Interoperability goes far beyond just the technical components of the electronic health record. Sam Fielding, Chief Information Officer for Southlake Health, reminded us all that true interoperability involves all areas of people, processes, and technology.
- Navigating challenges for successful projects: How do you achieve true ROI? Eric Carey, Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Valley Health, shared an excellent presentation, sharing real examples of how successful projects require interoperability across the areas of human, facility, process, and technology. Their recent new Valley Hospital location was a testing ground to incorporate new strategies of collaboration within the organization and with vendors alike. The goal to find true ROI from all collaborative endeavors helped drive a successful outcome.
- Collaboration is Essential: No matter where the collaboration originates, collaboration is a vital part of driving the healthcare outcomes forward. The challenges we currently face in healthcare require a collaborative commitment to problem-solving. The need to improve the digital experience and move the patient experience forward is a challenge that will require collaborative efforts. With a shared commitment to improving patient care, healthcare executives and the vendor community have a unique opportunity to move healthcare forward.
- Digital Transformation Requires Leadership: Digital transformation in healthcare is a journey, not a destination. We continue to see examples of how the digital health experience is continuously evolving. The role of the healthcare executive in providing leadership in driving this transformation is crucial, and we saw firsthand how executive buy-in, strategic planning, and change management are essential to overcoming resistance and achieving long-term success.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on our time at the MUSE Executive Institute, we are inspired by the incredible minds we encountered and the transformative ideas that were discussed. Our participation reaffirmed our commitment to advancing the future of healthcare through technology, collaboration, and innovation.
At IPeople Healthcare, we are motivated more than ever to continue our work in local data survivability, business continuity, and ensuring data resiliency of the electronic medical record. The MUSE Executive Institute was an invaluable experience that not only broadened our perspectives but also strengthened our resolve.
